Primary Expertise

Håkon focuses primarily on IP litigation work and on providing general legal advice on IP related matters. He has extensive experience in business law from working in-house as managing attorney in a big international company for several years, focusing particularly on intellectual property law, including trademark and patent portfolio development and management, IP licensing, co-operation and development agreements, data protection and privacy, unfair competition and marketing law. Håkon is well versed in handling IP disputes and in international contract negotiations, both on the inbound and outbound side.

He also has broad experience in intellectual property counseling, including developing and implementing IPR protection strategies, trademark clearance, filing and prosecution, as well as trademark oppositions and other administrative procedures and domain name issues.


Håkon has a law degree (Cand. Jur.) from Oslo University in 2003, specializing in copyrights and intellectual property law. He was admitted to the Norwegian Bar in 2007. Håkon first joined Bryn Aarflot in 2007, but left in 2009 to take an in-house position with Cisco Systems as managing attorney responsible for their video conferencing division. He has also been managing attorney for the sales teams in Norway, Iceland, Finland and the Baltics. Through his tenure with Cisco he has developed a deep business understanding and a solution oriented approach to legal issues. The job also included board positions in the Norwegian Cisco entities, including acting as chairman of the board in Acano AS. He re-joined Bryn Aarflot from Cisco in 2016 as part of the litigation team. Before this he worked at a smaller IP consultancy firm in Oslo and in the insurance industry as a claims handler.
