Primary expertise

Ellen holds extensive experience in general and strategic patents counselling, patent drafting and prosecution, clearance and IP analysis including due diligence and freedom to operate opinions, as well as patent oppositions, administrative limitation and revocation proceedings, infringement analyses and proceedings, and advising in patent litigation. Ellen also conducts patent searches and is also experienced in advising within design. She represents clients before the Norwegian Industrial Property Office, the EPO and PCT authorities.

At Bryn Aarflot she advises national and international clients in all areas of chemistry and in particular biochemistry, biotechnology, immunology and pharmaceuticals.


Ellen holds a M.Sc. in Chemistry ( Biochemistry) from the University of Oslo from 1983. She has experience with scientific work at the Department of Medical Research, University Hospital, Oslo in 1985 and at Department of Biology, University of Oslo 1986-87. Ellen studied Patent and Trademark law special subjects at the University of Oslo in 1994 and First stage law studies at the University of Oslo in 1996.  In 1987-98 she worked as a patent attorney at Bryns Patentkontor A/S.

Ellen joined Bryn Aarflot in 1999, and has been a partner at the firm since 2001.
